Data protection is a high priority for Venue Match. This policy explains the nature, scope and purpose of the personal data we collect, use and process, and the rights you have under the GDPR. The use of our website is possible without providing personal data; it becomes necessary only when you choose to use our venue-matching service. By submitting your details on venuematch.ie, you agree that your information will be shared with the wedding venues that match your enquiry so that they can contact you directly.

Definitions
This declaration is based on the terms used by the European legislator for the adoption of the GDPR. To keep it legible and understandable, we explain the key terminology below.
Cookies
The Venue Match website uses cookies, which are text files stored on your device via your internet browser. Many cookies contain a unique cookie ID through which websites and servers can be assigned to the specific browser in which the cookie was stored.
Through the use of cookies, Venue Match can provide a more user-friendly service that would not be possible without them. Cookies allow us to recognise the users of our website with the aim of making it easier to use.
You may prevent the setting of cookies at any time through the corresponding setting in your browser, and may permanently deny them. Cookies that have already been set may be deleted at any time. If you deactivate cookies in your browser, not all functions of our website may be entirely usable.
Collection of general data and information
When you or an automated system call up the website, we may collect a series of general data and information stored in server log files. This can include the browser type and version, the operating system used, the referring website, the sub-pages accessed, the date and time of access, an IP address, the internet service provider, and any similar data used in the event of attacks on our systems.
We do not draw any conclusions about you from this general data. It is used only to deliver our content correctly, optimise our website, ensure the long-term viability of our systems, and provide law enforcement with information necessary for criminal prosecution in the case of a cyber-attack. This anonymously collected data is analysed statistically to increase the data protection and security of Venue Match.
Submitting an enquiry on our website
You can submit an enquiry by providing personal data through our form. This typically includes your contact details (such as name, email address and telephone number) together with details of the wedding you are planning, for example your preferred county, venue type and style, guest numbers, budget and the features that are important to you.
By submitting the enquiry form, you consent to your details being shared with the venue partners that match your enquiry so that they can contact you directly by phone, email and/or SMS. When you submit an enquiry, the IP address assigned by your internet service provider, together with the date and time of submission, may also be stored to help prevent misuse of our services and, if necessary, to investigate any offences committed.
Your data is not passed on to third parties other than the venue partners matched to your enquiry, unless there is a statutory obligation to do so or the transfer serves the aim of criminal prosecution. You are free to change your details at any time, or to have them completely deleted. On request, we will tell you what personal data is stored about you and will correct or erase it insofar as there are no statutory storage obligations.
Contact possibility via the website
Our website enables quick electronic contact with us, including a general email address. If you contact us by email, the personal data you transmit is automatically stored for the purpose of processing or contacting you. There is no transfer of this personal data to third parties.
Routine erasure and blocking of personal data
We process and store personal data only for the period necessary to achieve the purpose of storage, or as far as this is granted by law. If the storage purpose no longer applies, or a legally prescribed storage period expires, the personal data is routinely blocked or erased in accordance with legal requirements.
Rights of the data subject
Under the GDPR you have the following rights in relation to your personal data.
a) Right of confirmation
You have the right to obtain confirmation as to whether or not personal data concerning you is being processed.
b) Right of access
You have the right to obtain, free of charge, information about your stored personal data and a copy of it, including the purposes of the processing, the categories of data concerned, the recipients to whom it has been or will be disclosed, the envisaged storage period, and the existence of your rights to rectification, erasure, restriction and objection, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
c) Right to rectification
You have the right to obtain, without undue delay, the rectification of inaccurate personal data concerning you and to have incomplete personal data completed.
d) Right to erasure (right to be forgotten)
You have the right to obtain the erasure of your personal data without undue delay where one of the grounds set out in the GDPR applies and the processing is not necessary, for example where the data is no longer needed for the purposes for which it was collected, or where you withdraw consent and there is no other legal ground for processing.
e) Right of restriction of processing
You have the right to obtain the restriction of processing where, for example, you contest the accuracy of the data, the processing is unlawful, we no longer need the data but you require it for legal claims, or you have objected to the processing pending verification.
f) Right to data portability
You have the right to receive the personal data you provided to us in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, and to transmit that data to another controller where technically feasible.
g) Right to object
You have the right to object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, at any time to the processing of your personal data. Where we process personal data for direct marketing, you can object at any time, after which we will no longer process it for those purposes.
h) Automated individual decision-making, including profiling
You have the right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing, including profiling, which produces legal or similarly significant effects concerning you, unless the decision is necessary for a contract, authorised by law, or based on your explicit consent.
i) Right to withdraw data protection consent
You have the right to withdraw your consent to the processing of your personal data at any time.

Legal basis for the processing
Article 6(1)(a) GDPR is the legal basis for processing for which we obtain consent for a specific purpose, for example sharing your enquiry with matching venue partners. Where processing is necessary for a contract or pre-contractual measures, it is based on Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. Where we are subject to a legal obligation, it is based on Article 6(1)(c) GDPR. Finally, processing may be based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR where it is necessary for our legitimate interests or those of a third party, except where overridden by your interests or fundamental rights and freedoms.
Legitimate interests pursued by the controller or a third party
Where processing is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest is to operate our venue-matching service and to carry out our business for the benefit of couples planning their wedding and the venue partners we work with.
Period for which the personal data will be stored
The criterion used to determine the storage period is the respective statutory retention period. After expiry of that period, the corresponding data is routinely deleted, as long as it is no longer necessary for the fulfilment of, or the initiation of, the matching service.
Provision of personal data as a statutory or contractual requirement
The provision of some personal data is required in order for us to match you with suitable wedding venues. If you do not provide the details requested in the enquiry form, we may not be able to identify or contact venues on your behalf.
